We Need Your Pictures!

Please send in any pictures of you and your Little that we can use in our newsletters, on the website or in any of our promotional materials. We want to use real pictures of our actual matches. Also, we are in need of great stories, so if you have a story that goes with your picture, or just a great story about your match in general please submit that as well. Mail or email pictures to Patty Sullivan .

Corporate and High School Mentoring

  • Corporate Mentoring will begin the week of September 10th and run until the end of May. Contact Erica Seaton with any questions about school schedules or problems/issues with your Little.
    • High School Mentoring for Sangamon, Christian and Macoupin Counties will begin the week of September 24th. Contact Yvonne Wapniarski with any questions about school schedules or problems/issues with your Little.

    Click here to access the Springfield Public Schools District 186 website to find school calendars for the school where you mentor and school contact information. Click on District Calendar and then choose the school from the drop down box. You can view District information, such as school closings and early dismissals, and school events like picture day and book fairs for you

    Tax Information For Bigs

    Bigs can deduct on Schedule A of their 1040 (if you itemize) out-of-pocket expenses incurred on behalf of your Little. Expenses include things such as admission costs and meals; however, you cannot dedut the portion of costs related to yourself. So keep you receipts from you activities together! (Rev.Ru. 70-519, 1970-2 CB 62, IRC Sec(s). 170)

    As a Big you can claim a deduction for any mileage utilized in charitable activities, which is any activity you do for the agency or with your Little. Corporate Bigs, you can claim the mileage driving to and from your Little's school. The rate for 2008 is $.14 a mile. For more information, go to www.irs.gov/pub/irs-drop/rp-05-78.pdf
