Big Brothers Big Sisters of Sangamon County

Big Brothers Big Sisters of the Illinois Capital Region

Christian County Branch

Big Brothers Big Sisters of the Illinois Capital Region, Christian County Branch opened in Taylorville, Illinois, in April 1999. Children and adults were matched in the Community-Based mentoring program. In 2001, Christian County began its first School-Based mentoring program at West School, serving 15 children who were matched with high school students. In 2009, the agency served more than 64 children in quality one-to-one mentoring relationships through the School-Based mentoring programs at North and South schools in Taylorville.

Through regular fundraisers such as Pigs For Kids and Bowl For Kids' Sake, BBBS continues to grow the mentoring programs in Christian County, expanding in Taylorville and surrounding towns.

Big Brothers Big Sisters of the Illinois Capital Region offers one-to-one mentoring relationships to children who have been referred to us, either by a parent or a teacher. In addition to Christian County, we also serve children in Sangamon, Montgomery and Macopuin Counties through the Community-Based and/or School-Based Mentoring programs.
